Bad News in Fortune Cookie

After I eat a very healthy meal, I feel empowered that I did the right thing. Today I ate brown rice and mixed vegetables (steamed) at one of my favorite Chinese restaurants here in Houston. Man, was it good!
However, today was different. I was very disappointed and mad after I looked at my fortune cookie at the conclusion of my meal. I looked at the fortune cookie wrapper and noticed an evil set of words on the ingredients . . . . partially hydrogenated oils (Trans Fats).
I could not believe it. I always thought fortune cookies were supposed to provide a positive proverb or quote. I was so mad I did not even read the Chinese proverb.
This doesn’t mean I will stop going to this restaurant. The food at this restaurant is excellent and does provide healthy options. However, it makes me think how alert a person MUST be while eating out or purchasing food at the grocery store. Take the time to know what’s in your food. Read the labels before you eat if possible.
